Redtronic took on the Big Bikeathon

Charity Cycling in support of Overgate Hospice’s Big Build Appeal 

In October 2025, the Redtronic team took on a challenge: to cycle 304 miles – which is the equivalent of cycling from London to Paris – in support of Overgate Hospice’s Big Build Appeal. 

Overgate Hospice is an independent charity located in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, who provide expert care, advice, and information for patients and their families who have had terminal illnesses or a long-term condition which cannot be cured. They provide all their services free of charge, so solely rely on funding to continue offering their support and care. 

Currently, Overgate Hospice is undertaking a massive project to transform their hospice facilities in Calderdale into a new state-of-the-art facility, which includes a purpose-build 16-bed inpatient unit and expanded Day Hospice facility.  

Kate Haigh, one of the nurses in the in-patient unit at Overgate Hospice said “We’re making sure each patient has both the privacy they deserve, and the choice to connect with others they can relate to in a communal space made for them. The Big Build Appeal will allow us to tailor each patient’s experience to exactly what they need, when they need it.” 

This incredible journey started in 20 months ago in April 2024, and has so far raised £10.75 million, with a final £2 million remaining for completion in Spring 2026. 

Redtronic supported this appeal at the start of their journey by donating £80 to their Easter Raffle in April 2024, but were keen to get involved again and raise more money for the Big Build Appeal. Week commencing the 13th October 2025, 17 members of the Redtronic team got geared up and hyped up for the delivery of the stationary bikes. The goal: cycle 304 miles over 3 days and raise £750 for Overgate Hospice’s Big Build Appeal.
